'Suara Tukang Tua' is an exhibition that descends into the Rumah Gadang, the traditional Minangkabau house, guided by a way of seeing its oral tradition. In this cultural landscape, architecture is not recorded through drawings or formal texts, but fossilised in voice through poems that shape both memory and matter. Through the written expression of this oral tradition, the exhibition explores the physicality of voice as expression, as continuation, as presence. A way to listen with the eyes.
TYPOGRAPHY DESIGN
This typeface was crafted for this project, exploring the physicality of voice and ornament through typography. Its lines inspired by musical notes to express oral tradition, while its curves and structures draw from the Rumah Gadang’s ornamentation. Alternates plays with expressive movement in notation, adding a sense of dynamism to the overall form.
